BREAKING NEWS

In its press release dated October 15th, 2026, ESPE, a Group operating in the renewable energy sector since 1974 as an EPC contractor for the construction of photovoltaic plants and owner of proprietary “ESPE”-branded technology for small wind turbines and biomass cogeneration units, announced the award of a new contract worth € 2.00 million for the construction of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 10 MWh in the province of Alessandria. Completion of the project is expected by the end of the first half of 2027.

The contract is particularly significant from a strategic perspective, as it enables the Group to consolidate its presence in the energy storage segment, a market characterized by high growth rates and fully aligned with the development strategies outlined by management over recent years. The increasing adoption of energy storage systems, which provide greater flexibility in managing electricity generated from intermittent renewable sources, represents a complementary growth opportunity to the Group’s core photovoltaic business, laying the foundations for a gradual diversification of its activities.

The client is a leading Italian Independent Power Producer (IPP) operating in the renewable energy sector, with which ESPE has maintained a well-established commercial and technical relationship over time. The new storage system will be integrated with a 5 MWp ground-mounted photovoltaic plant, located in an urbanized industrial area and built by the Company in 2025. The contract therefore highlights the strength of the relationship established with the client and the Group’s ability to support the evolution of its plant requirements over time, expanding its offering to the existing installed base through the integration of energy storage solutions into previously completed plants.

As part of the contract, ESPE will also install a double Power Shelter, a proprietary solution designed and developed internally by the Group, which the Company both offers on the market and uses in the execution of its own projects. The use of these products enhances the Group’s commercial offering and strengthens its control over the value chain, enabling it to manage certain key project components internally.

Commenting on the announcement, Enrico Meneghetti, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ESPE, stated: “This contract stems from a long-standing relationship with an established client and demonstrates the quality of the commercial and technical expertise that ESPE provides to its partners. The integration of the BESS system with the photovoltaic plant already built by the Group allows us to offer a comprehensive solution capable of increasing flexibility in energy management. Our further expansion into a rapidly growing market, together with the deployment of a proprietary double Power Shelter, represents the concrete implementation of the strategic guidelines established in recent years and highlights our ability to manage essential project components internally.”

Following the new contract award, the ESPE Group’s total order backlog stands at € 113.50 million as of the date of the press release, approximately 96.0% of which is attributable to the photovoltaic business. The backlog is expected to be executed by the end of 2027, thereby providing a high degree of visibility on expected revenues over the next two years.

Overall, although the new contract is relatively limited in size compared with the total order backlog, it confirms the Group’s ability to generate recurring commercial opportunities within its existing customer base and strengthens ESPE’s positioning in the energy storage segment, supporting an increasingly integrated offering across the entire renewable energy value chain. In light of the above, we confirm our recommendation: target price € 8.00, BUY rating, Medium risk.
